Black Jack Basics – Part One

[ English ]

The basic concept of the game is to be dealt cards adding up to twenty-one. Each competitor is dealt two cards. When a blackjack player is given a nine or less and an Ace they’ve been given a soft hand. When the player is dealt no Ace cards it is referred to as a hard hand. Once the cards have been dealt all players at the blackjack table, which includes the dealer, each player is given the opportunity to make one of 6 decisions:

Requesting another card (Hit): When a black jack player says "hit me" the croupier will deal them another card, if the adding of that card causes the total greater than twenty one the player will have lost and that’s the end of the game, if the card makes the total to twenty one the gambler will be the winner and if the value of the hand has not yet reached 21 they are still in the game.

Keeping the hand you’ve been given: If a black jack player is satisfied with the cards they will stand. Once this has happened the croupier will disclose his/her hand and the gambler who has accumulated twenty-one or the nearest to twenty-one will come away with a win.

Doubling Down: A gambler may ask to double down which doubles the wager they have placed. As soon as you have taken this action you can only be given one more card. The details of doubling down are often out lined by the table or betting house rules so before betting make certain you are familiar with the house game rules. If you’re wagering at a web-based betting house this is normally quite simple.
